Focus Area(s) :Technology - Innovation- -

If awarded the Terra grant, Indian Trails Middle School will use the funds to purchase a class set of the Oculus Go Virtual Reality Goggles. Students will utilize the technology available to them to explore distant locations through virtual field trips and immerse themselves in content beyond the classroom. Students will also take part in creating their own virtual reality video of our flagship classes. Student will edit and convert the video to be used with the virtual reality goggles. The videos of our flagship classes will be used to share our work with parents, community members and our partners at different events throughout the year including the Classrooms to Careers showcase, open house and curriculum night. The virtual reality goggles also allow us to share our projects with other flagship classes. Overall, our school and flagship classes will benefit from the Oculus Go class set by giving students the opportunity to study content beyond the classroom and share our classroom with others.

How is your project innovative?   (25 points)
The Virtual Reality project is innovative because it will allow students in each class to explore and study content beyond the limits of a brick and mortar classroom through virtual field trips and explorations through a set of Virtual Reality Goggles. In addition, students will be able to highlight the positives of their classes by creating their own 3D renderings and displaying them using the same VR goggles. Indian Trails Middle School will be able to use the VR goggles to promote the various flagship opportunities to our students and community members transporting them into our classroom.
